"The Bigot Tree" - A Children's Poem With A Moral

 "The Bigot Tree"

In a forest of giggles and glee,
Stood a grumpy old Bigot Tree. With branches that scowled at the sky so blue, It grumbled at all who came passing through.

“You’re too tall!” it barked at the pine, “Your needles aren’t nearly as fine as mine!” “You’re too bright!” it snapped at the sun, “I’d rather have shade, you’re no fun!” The birds tried to sing, but it shushed them away, “Your chirps are too loud for my leaves today!” The squirrels, the breeze, the flowers in bloom, All got a glare from its cranky old gloom. But one day a child with a smile so wide, Skipped to the tree and sat by its side. “Why fuss and frown at the world, you see? You’re part of the forest, like all of us free!” The Bigot Tree paused, then it swayed with a creak, Its branches softened, its voice grew meek. With a rustle of leaves, it began to agree, “Maybe I’ll try being a happier tree!”
From that day on, in the forest so grand, It waved to the pines and shook squirrels’ hands. The Bigot Tree learned, as the seasons would show, To love all around it and let its heart grow.
