When I first got into blog reviews I was purely raw-dogging it, looking up every how-to video possible to setup my blogs, and trying to learn the review tools at my disposal. I went in ignorant to the fact that there's a certain sector of online tech help that has a rather shady reputation for fudging their way through the algorithm as the algorithm promoted source of information. I will refrain from saying the obvious race relations of that sector as to avoid backlash, but sometimes there's things in life that ring true regardless of whose feelings it hurts.
I'll be the first to admit I sought a lot of foreign advice on blogger, google analytics, and google tag manager setups. To my dismay this backfired time and time again having me learn things in a more hands-on manner. It reminds me of the time I cussed out the AT&T help techie, because he had me trying to do everything, but what would have fixed my internet issue. Needless to say I figured it out on my own.
The unfortunate thing for those looking to startup a website or blog is the fact that 99.9% of all information you'll be directed towards via search engine results or social media outlet posts is information you're better off not implementing. I personally believe there's an effort to sabotage competition among outlets, and that the tech sector cronies are hiding the true know how while selling everyone else sh*t that cripples their reach.
It doesn't help that Google, and other SEO tech giants can't explain their own tech worth a damn either. It's like reading into an alien manual that makes no sense to the reader it's directed towards. While I'm not an advocate for college, I kind of think people need a proper teacher, and classes on the tech side of website building and maintenance. That and how to properly assess and access internet provided information regarding that topic.
All in all it's been a learning experience, and this old dog is constantly learning something new. I guess it's safe to say old dogs can still learn new tricks.
